Dayton Metro Barbershop Chorus completes a busy Holiday Season

The Dayton Metro Barbershop Chorus, a local barbershop Chorus who offers numerous events available to Montgomery County residents has once again enjoyed the wonderful opportunities to sing during this recent busy Holiday Season.

“This is the favorite time of the year when we have the opportunity to sing for numerous holiday festivals such as the Dayton Holiday Festival”, David Boos Director of the Chorus explained. “This year, we were honored to be the first group to kick-off the Downtown Dayton event at 3:00 pm November 24, 2023”, said Boos.

Additional events the Chorus participated in included singing carols at Woodland Lights (located at Countryside Park 895 Miamisburg Centerville Road) December 2nd from six to nine pm and performing at the Anglican Christmas Festival held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church December 16 from 4pm to 8pm 33 W Dixon Avenue in Oakwood.

“The Dayton Metro Barbershop Chorus chartered in 1983 has a large and loyal following in the Miami Valley”. “We have presented numerous annual concerts with several hundred people appearing in numerous “sing outs” in other venues, such as nursing homes, Christmas concerts in the Oregon District of Dayton and summer events such as the Sweet Corn Festival in Fairborn”. added Boos. “Each February, our chapter quartets have delivered “Singing Valentines” at homes, businesses, schools, and restaurants around the Miami Valley. Over the past two years, when Covid-19 made this impossible, we improvised successfully by delivering virtual singing Valentines to people as far away as Maryland and Texas.

The Dayton Metro Barbershop Chorus accepts singers of all ages (current members range in age from sixteen to eighty-two). The weekly practices are held every Monday at 7 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 33 West Dixon Avenue in Dayton.
