Dayton Gone Crackers? Local businesses jump on the Cracker Barrel bandwagon

A recent logo change from Cracker Barrel—and the ensuing online backlash—sparked a creative trend right here in the Miami Valley, with several local businesses joining the fun.

When Cracker Barrel faced a backlash over its new minimalistic logo, the public criticism that ensued inspired some local social media creators to share their own versions of the logo.

Dayton Art Institute joined the conversation, posting "At Cracker Barrel, your membership comes with biscuits and sweet tea. At the DAI, it comes with free admission, exclusive events and unlimited refills of community".

Craft beer bar The Barrel House , a popular spot on East Third Street in the Fire Blocks District in Dayton, couldn't resist joining in, sharing it's own seemingly tailor-made revamped logo.

Tom & Dot's (feeling silly) in Miamisburg unveiled their new logo: "We hope you love the new logo change as much as we do!"

Even Local Party Punch Band added their own "twist" on the new Cracker Barrel logo.

In what may be one of the shortest rebrands in history, Cracker Barrel reversed course just days after the backlash, returning to its "Old Timer" logo.

Just yesterday, the restaurant chain posted the following announcement:

"We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have.  Our new logo is going away and our “Old Timer” will remain.  At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon."
