2nd Street Market Outdoor Farmers Market Opens May 3
The grand opening of the 2nd Street Market’s outdoor farmers market is Saturday, May 3, from 9 to 3 p.m. and will continue operation through the harvest season, which ends Oct. 26.
Sunset at the Market every third Thursday from May-October, providing guests with special evening shopping hours, dinner, entertainment and themed programming. Get a jump on spring at the Mayfair Plant Sale May 2-4, or the Native Plant Sale on May 11.
The 2nd Street Market is also part of the Downtown Dayton Designated Outdoor Refreshment Footprint (DORA) and guests are permitted to enjoy DORA beverages during its designated hours. Music at the Market is on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, and Sundays, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Market hosts Culture Kitchen on the second Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 8 p.m. May through October. This program offers participants a unique culinary tasting event connecting the community through food and heritage. Each program showcases the culinary talents of the Market’s food vendors as they share with you their culture and the culinary traditions of their homelands. Culture Kitchen programs require registration. The cost is $35 per person. Be sure to register now, as space is limited to attend. Culture Kitchen events this summer are:
- May 8: Taste of Thailand - with Homestyle Thai Bistro
- June 12: Taste of Ghana - with Seli Foods
- July 10: Taste of Belgium - with Chef Donald Whitcomb
- August 14: Taste of Farm to Table - with The Narrow Way Farm and Vegan It Iz Eats
- September 11: Taste of Mexico - with Chef Santiago Herrera
- October 9: Taste of Armenia & Turkey - with Lucy's Pastry Palace and Gunash's Mediterranean Cuisine
