The Centerville Arts Commission is pleased to announce the Centerville Art Gallery will feature the work of artist Zarana Vakil throughout the month of November. The exhibit may be viewed 24 hours a day at the Centerville Police Department, 155 West Spring Valley Road.
Zarana is from Centerville and was born and raised in India. She creates works of art in various formats ranging from oil, acrylic and glass paintings to stained glass and jewelry. She has explored various mediums of paintings but has always been drawn back to glass, captivated by the interplay of colors and light on this transparent canvas. She uses a variety of glass forms including windows, vases, lightboxes, clocks and glasses.
Many of Zarana’s glass paintings are on repurposed old windows, recycling and creating a fresh and new work of art. She draws inspiration from nature and the surrounding flora and fauna as well as her ethnic and cultural heritage.
The Centerville Arts Commission was created by the Centerville City Council to involve citizens in the visual and performing arts. For more information, call (937) 433-7151 or visit centervilleohio.gov.
