Drive Electric Dayton announces the launch of the Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio

Since 2017, Drive Electric Dayton (DED), a local volunteer-run group, has been helping curious Dayton-area residents learn about electric vehicles (EVs).  Now, the group is taking its efforts statewide.

'Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio' Launches to Help People Discover the Benefits of EVs

Would you consider yourself EV curious?  If so, you might be interested to learn that Drive Electric Dayton is officially launching the Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio, a new non-profit dedicated to expanding EV education across the Buckeye State.  While the group will now work with other Ohio communities, it will keep its name and local focus right here in the Miami Valley.

According to the group's president, Rap Hankins, this move is about expanding the successful formula that has worked so well in the Dayton region.

"These experiences have taught us that Ohioans are interested in EVs to help them lower costs, pollute less, and enjoy driving more," said Hankins.  “We will work with our EVA members and our supporters across Ohio to expand opportunities for people to go for their first ride in an electric vehicle and to discover how they can save money by driving an EV.”

With a growing number of jobs and investments in EV manufacturing coming to Ohio, the Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio aims to help the state's residents and businesses prepare for this shift in transportation.

Ohioans may be surprised to learn that 8% of vehicles registered in Ohio are electric, while Ohio ranks fourth in the nation for automakers’ investment in EV manufacturing. By 2030, an estimated 25,000 Ohioans are expected to be employed in EV manufacturing.

“The goal of the Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio is to help Ohio residents, businesses, and governments prepare for the future of electric transportation.," EVs will bring real jobs so our families, neighbors, and communities in Ohio can continue to thrive and grow,” Hankins said.

For the Dayton community, Drive Electric Dayton will continue to be a go-to resource, with an even bigger network to draw from.
