CONGRATS to the Beavercreek High School Marching Band and Color Guard on their recent success at OSU!
CONGRATULATIONS to the Beavercreek High School Marching Band and Color Guard on their big win at The Ohio State University this past weekend!
The Beavercreek High School Marching Band and Color Guard traveled to OSU in Columbus last Saturday to compete in the Buckeye Invitational at the historic Ohio Stadium. The band put on an amazing show in front of thousands, earning them an overall score of 91.84 for "Outstanding Percussion and Outstanding General Effect".
Their performance was rewarded with the highest score in the competition.
"All season long we have been telling the band "if you work hard, you get better!" and the students have worked incredibly hard this season." Beavercreek’s band director, Matt Frost said.
"We got better! Receiving the highest score at the OSU invitational is a big deal in the Ohio band world. Scoring that well at this show teaches our students that paying attention to our core values - Discipline, Citizenship, Dedication, Focus, and Unity - really does determine our success. It has been a very successful season!"
Frost told us that performing at the Shoe was an incredible experience. The historic stadium was built in 1922, making it 100 years old this year. "It's incredible to walk onto the field knowing the history connected to that space," Frost said.
The Buckeye Invitational is an annual high school band competition hosted by The Ohio State University Marching Band and sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA).
Next up, the band will travel to Indianapolis this Saturday, October 22 to compete in the "Bands of America Super Regional" against more than 80 bands from all over the country. The 2022 season will wrap up at Piqua High School for the Ohio Music Education Association's State Marching Band Finals on Oct 30.
What an amazing accomplishment for Beavercreek HS! GO CREEK - and good luck from all of us at Dayton Local for this Saturday!
