Alter High School Band Crowned National Champions

Archbishop Alter High School’s band, the Marching Knights, was named Bands of America Grand National Class A Champions on Saturday, November 12, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Alter High School Band win National ChampionshipAlter’s band is comprised of 36 students in grades 7-12, and competed against 26 bands in their division. The Marching Knights, under the leadership of Director of Bands Todd Tucker, also won two additional awards for ‘Outstanding Music Performance’ and ‘Outstanding General Effect.’

Social media lit up after the win.  "Thank you all. We are Overjoyed!" read a post on a page dedicated to Alter High School Bands. "We are humbled and thankful to our community, supporters, staff, band parents, and alums. So proud of our amazing band and guard kids, especially our 9 seniors. These are 36 total kids who are just unreal. And 21 of those 36… are first year members."

Earlier this season, the Marching Knights earned their ninth Mid States Band Association Championship and are six-time Bands of America Grand National Semi Finalists.
