Musica - DAYTON

From its origins in 1990, MUSICA, Dayton’s Chamber Choir, has been composed of 20-25 trained singers (some professional, some amateurs, but all unpaid), selected through a competitive annual audition process. MUSICA has offered a public subscription concert season of 3-4 concerts throughout Montgomery County for 34 of the past 35 years. (Our 2020 Thirtieth Anniversary season was canceled due to COVID -19.)

As one of the chamber choirs in southwest Ohio, our concerts reflect the exceptional variety, flexibility, and joy offered by the chamber choir repertoire. We perform a wide variety of musical styles – from classical choral works of the past to contemporary choral music as well as American Folk, Spirituals, Hymns, Broadway, World Music and Hip-Hop. MUSICA sings either a cappella or with instrumentation using guest artists (piano, organ, flute, acoustic or electric guitars, drums, zither, string quartet, etc. as needed) in a variety of languages. We have regularly collaborated with other local arts organizations most recently with choirs from local colleges such as the Wright State Treble Choir and from local high schools, such as the Stivers School for the Arts Honor Choir.
