Summer is almost upon us again which means time to get on the water and do some paddling! And in my opinion, the best place to go is Rivers Edge Outfitters located 5 miles north of Waynesville on route 42. Unlike other canoe and kayaking liveries, Rivers Edge is committed to providing the highest quality canoes and kayaks to their customers by offering only composite canoes like Mad River and Old Town canoes with more comfortable seats and easier to paddle canoes than old style aluminum canoes. They also have over 8 different kayak models that can suit any size paddler!

Canoe KidThey offer 3 different length trips unlike most other liveries, all ending at Rivers Edge. The shortest one is about a 1.5 to 2 hour paddle of one of the more secluded and scenic areas on the Little Miami River. They also have a 3.5-4 hour trip starting in Bellbrook and a 6-8 hour starting in Beavercreek near Indian Ripple. All the trips are great for all ages and skill levels and offer plenty of rope swing fun along the way!

Rivers Edge is a family owned business and was founded by Rhett Rohrer and his wife Brandy in 1984 making this their 30th season. Even their daughters, 17 year old Sarah, and 10 year old Kate, help run the business along with Rhett's father, Burt. They also have 4 main crew workers with more than 20 years experience between them to help you have a safe and fun day of paddling.

Canoe Fun!During their normal summer season (late May through August) They are open 7 days a week with trips leaving every hour on the hour from 10am to 4pm. Just remember to arrive 20-30 minutes before the departure to sign in. You can also make reservations online through their website or by calling and also have group rates when having a large party.

I've known Rhett for a few years now and paddled the stretches they shuttle to several times and there isn't any other kayak and canoe livery I would ever use. Check them out www.riversedgeoutfitters.com for more info and give them a call if you're looking to get out on the water soon. 937-903-6468. Don't forget to follow their Facebook page to stay up to date on weather and what's going on within the company.
