Final 2013 Springboro Concert in the Park: The Rusty Griswolds

This Tuesday is the last concert of the 2013 Springboro Concert in the Park Series. It is, like, so tubular and it is totally FREE! It is going to be a totally awesome '80s music party so put on your gnarly parachute pants and Thriller jacket and come join the fun at the North Park Amphitheater in Springboro. It's the Rusty Griswolds! No duh!

Their very name should tell you what to expect from the band voted by Cincinnati Citybeat magazine readers as the best live cover band in the city almost every year since 2004. Rusty Griswold was the son of Clark Griswold in the National Lampoon's Vacation film series that was ultra popular in the 1980s. The character of Rusty was played by a different actor in every installment of the franchise and became a running joke. So, it shouldn't be any surprise that a band calling themselves "The Rusty Griswolds" would be known for fun, energetic performances and bringing the music of the '80s to the live stage.

The Rusty Griswolds have been rocking Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton since 1999. They have developed a reputation as the go to party band in the area. They play just about every pop and rock song you can remember from the '80s and nothing else. Go ahead and request that they play "Free Bird". They won't. You know why? No one plays "Free Bird" in parachute pants.

However, if the music from the '80s is what you want to hear, then this is the band for you. These six guys from Cincinnati don't just capture the sound of the '80s, they capture the feel. Their shows are carefree and fun trips through the nostalgia of the most colorful decade. You won't even need a DeLorean for the trip!

This band is so awesome, that they host their own charity "Rusty Ball" every year to benefit local charities. They have raised close to a million dollars for charities so far. Now that, my friend, is totally tubular!

So, put on your checkered Vans shoes, your neon leggings, leg warmers, over size sweater, big hair and "Let's Dance"! Dressing in '80s style and dancing is always encouraged at a Rusty Griswolds' show. There is plenty of room at the North Park Amphitheater. They offer refreshments or you can bring your own cooler and snacks. The sound is very good for an outdoor venue (I heard The Menus play here just this year and it sounded great). Don't miss this last bash to close out one of the summer's best free concert series.
