Two Dayton area entertainers took home awards Sunday night at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
Springfield native John Legend was recognized with a win in the Best Rap/Sung Performance category for his work on “Higher,” alongside DJ Khaled and Nipsey Hussle, a rapper who was shot and killed in March 2019 at the age of 33.

“We all love him. We all miss him. It’s terrible that we had to lose him so early,” Legend said. “We’ve seen some tragedy today and last year ... let’s hold each other tight.”
Yellow Springs resident and comedian Dave Chappelle won Best Comedy Album for “Sticks and Stones”. The politically incorrect Netflix comedy special was released in 2019 and scored 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
This win marks Chappelle's third consecutive victory in the category.
