(Dayton, OH) – Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity will break ground for Peggie DeVoise and her five children at 1204 Clement Ave. in Dayton, OH on Friday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. This build has been made possible through the generosity of GE Capital, the MetLife Foundation Volunteer Project Fund, the City of Dayton through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati in partnership with Wright-Patt Credit Union.

GE Capital (formerly GE Money) began partnering with Dayton Habitat in 2001 and MetLife began their partnership soon after in 2003.  Each year, GE Capital and MetLife provide funding and volunteer labor to help build a home for a family in Montgomery County.

Peggie and her five children currently live in a rental house. Their neighborhood is loud and unsafe, and Peggie does not allow her children to play in the park. Eager to improve their housing, Peggie completed the required amount of sweat equity to select a lot for her home in only three months.

Peggie is employed and has been promoted twice since she starting work at Debbye’s Darling Daycare four years ago.  Now the assistant administrator, Peggie is happy to work for an encouraging and supportive boss.  Her five children, ages 3-12, attend Mary Queen of Peace Catholic School.

Dayton Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry that welcomes to its work all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing.  Since its founding in 1983, Dayton Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated 178 houses throughout Montgomery County, providing simple, decent, affordable homes to more than 800 people, including more than 500 children.  For more information about the groundbreaking or to learn how you can get involved with the Dayton Habitat affiliate, please visit www.daytonhabitat.org or call (937) 586-0860.
