Four generations of Foy's have operated Foy’s Halloween & Variety Store in Fairborn since 1929. The original store was a "Five and Dime", now Foy’s has 6 stores on Main St. in Fairborn. Of these, the Halloween & Variety, Adult Costume stores, and Rock-N-Roll Grill have year round hours. They also operate a Haunted Museum, Children's Costume Shop, and The Haunted House Store that's only open for special hours in October.
Foy’s Halloween & Variety transported me back in time to my youth (the 70's, yikes). The first thing to catch my eye was the volume and variety of candies they carry. Annie and Joan, both of whom have been with Foy's about 10 years, are very proud that the store offers something for every budget – even if your budget is just a dime!
For the daring sweet tooth with deeper pockets, how about a dried cricket lollipop, salt and vinegar crickets, or chocolate covered insects. The Greene County Readers Choice Awards recently awarded Foy's 1st place in the Best Candy/Candy Store category. I was surprised to find Beemans, BlackJack, TeaBerry, and Clove gum, in addition to bulk candy sold by weight. You won't find a computer or bar code scanner here; every item is has its own price tag, even the registers are from yesteryear.

Foy's Haunted Museum will be open every Friday and Saturday in October from 6pm - 11pm. Foy's Halloween and Variety Store offers extended hours during the month of October staying open until midnight Friday and Saturday nights and providing a DJ until 11pm the first 3 weekends of the month. The 3rd weekend of October, The Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno will make an appearance. The details haven’t been ironed out yet, so keep an eye on Foy's facebook page for the scoop.
The Fairborn Chamber of Commerce is holding the 1st Annual Halloween Festival on October 26th and 27th featuring rides, live entertainment, costume contests, vendors, concessions, and a Spooktacular Parade. Friday festivities will begin at 4pm and run to 11pm. Saturday events run from 10am to 11pm and will include a Zombies Walk sponsored by the Fairborn Community Center.
The folks at Foy's willl go all out to provide a fun and memorable visit. Make the trip, you'll have a great time!
