YSAC Virtual Members Show Isolation
YSAC Virtual Members Show Isolation
Over 20 local artists are participating in the annual Yellow Springs Arts Council Members Show from February 1 – 28. The show is presented virtually at ysartscouncil.org/gallery/ with a virtual reception on Friday, February 19 at 7 PM. A wide range of media including pottery, watercolor, fiber art, video, sculpture, oil and acrylic paintings, drawing, photography and more will be on display.
Over the past year, our world has turned upside down. Artists were asked to explore the isolation created by the pandemic and how it has shaped their thoughts and actions, how they’ve taken care of themselves and others, and how they view the world. Some resulting works are humorous and light-hearted, others serious and thought-provoking. The range of work is as diverse as the range of reactions and emotions we have all experienced during this past year.
Since the physical gallery is still closed, artists submitted a photograph of their work, all of which were pulled together into a slideshow. At the reception, we will take a virtual stroll through the gallery while the host provides more details about the works and artists, and a couple of artists will discuss their work at greater length. It will end with a Q&A session for all participants.
