The Annual Dayton Train Show, presented by the National Model Railroad Association
Following the closure of Hara Arena, the 2016 Dayton Train Show will move to the former Elder-Beerman store in the Upper Valley Mall in Springfield. Plenty of free parking is adjacent to the building, and the Mall Food Court will be open.
The NMRA Miami Valley Division 3 is excited to announce our new 2016 Dayton Train Show Venue. For 2016, we are The Dayton Train Show at the Upper Valley Mall. The mall is located on Upper Valley Pike in Springfield, a short trip from I-70. We will be located in the (for now) empty Elder Beerman’s building. We have scoured the area and feel that this is an excellent venue for us.
The EB building is sizeable and beautiful. There are 3 food venues in the mall or, take a 5 minute drive to Bechtle Ave. where you can find a multitude of restaurants. There are also many hotels close-by at I-70, exit 54. The show will still be on November 5 at 11am-5pm and 6 at 11am-4pm. The mall has security, loads of parking, established foot traffic, and a motivated mall staff ready to help us. We are now working hard on a media blitz and the layout of the show floor.
This is one of the largest combination of vendors, exhibitors and exhibition of operating layouts in Ohio! There is approximately 70,000 square feet including about 15 operating layouts, over 400 dealer tables, hourly door prizes (including 2 Thomas Train sets per day), many exhibitors, and how-to clinics on train care and model building. Boy scouts can earn the Railroading Merit Badge (pre-registration required). On exhibit is the Boonshoft O gauge model railroad layout. This layout is fully scenic'd and beautifully created. It will be running at the Train Show. The Division 3 Train Show gang is also working on some surprises for this forward looking show.
