City of Dayton seeks approval for PSA Airlines Hangar Project
The Dayton City Commission has approved legislation to enter into a development agreement with PSA Airlines, apply for a JobsOhio loan and accept a $250,000 grant from Dayton Power and Light to construct a new 67,500 square foot Aircraft Maintenance Hangar along with a 10,000 square foot engine maintenance and parts storage addition. The hangar would be built adjacent to the current PSA hangar.
"PSA is a major anchor for DAY," said Dayton City Manager, Warren Price "This project reinforces PSA's commitment to the region and will encourage more business at the Dayton airport."
In addition, the City plans to use, roughly $5.2 million in City revenue bonds, $3.7 million from the Department of Aviation and has received a confirmation of $250,000 in Economic Development Government Equity (ED/GE) funds from Montgomery County.
"The Dayton International Airport continues to be an important economic driver for the region. This project means more jobs at DAY and gives PSA the ability to plan for future growth," said Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley.
If PSA moves forward with the new addition at DAY, the airline will increase the number of air-crafts daily PSA brings to DAY for maintenance. PSA currently has 582 employees in Dayton and would add 50 new jobs.
Construction for the new hangar would start this summer, with an estimated completion of next spring, contingent upon incentive approval by state and local governing bodies.
