Applied Behavior Analysis is the study and application of behavior change strategies. ABA Therapy, which is often prescribed for autistic people in need of support, is the use of behavior strategies to support people in changing behaviors that may interfere with or limit their ability to access the life they want. ABA can be used to foster a range of skills and behaviors, from basic tasks such as waiting in line, to more complex and nuanced interactions such as perspective taking and joint attention.

 

ABA Therapy can vary in intensity, frequency and duration based upon the needs of the client and their family. The goal of ABA Therapy at ATBS is to guide our clients in learning the skills, behaviors and strategies that they need to flourish in the capacity that they choose.

Many services that are available under the ABA umbrella focus on teaching clients the skills to fit into society and follow social norms. Instead, at ATBS we focus on the unique goals and values of each person that walks through our doors. Then we target teaching our client the skills that they need in order to access the life they deserve.

 

We recognize the history of ABA in regards to its treatment of autistic people and their families. We believe that creating a world where people of all neurotypes can access society requires prioritizing and elevating autistic voices and perspectives. We celebrate neurodiversity by accepting with joy the differences in how autistic people experience the world. At Achieve Together we focus on empowering each of our clients in developing their own voice as an autistic person.

We offer a wide range of services designed to meet each client on their level, in the specific ways that support them the most. Whether a client needs academic support, 1 on 1 interventions, or social skills, across a variety of settings, we do everything in our power to meet our clients at the point of their need. Some clients thrive on 2 hours of social group once a week, while others benefit more from full day programs every day. Because each client and family is beautifully unique, so too are the prescriptions and recommendations for therapy.
