IMPROVING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

Try something new. PURGE YOUR PANTRY.

Are you looking to start making small changes in the food you eat to increase your energy, to be preventative, to battle your allergies, to prevent future health issues, or just to feel better both mentally and physically? You may also have a complicated relationship with food due to other reasons. No matter the issue a personalized pantry plan might be right for you.

Begin exploring your relationship with food by peaking in my pantry for options you can try. Healthy food should also be delicious.

Why Purge the Pantry?

I'm not an ALL or nothing type of person when it comes to diet, but I am about taking action on how I can create a healthier lifestyle for myself, my family, and others. Purge the Pantry gives me the opportunity to help educate others on how they can do this too.

Purge the Pantry educates through posts, videos, materials, and trainings about what is actually in the food we are eating.

Purge the Pantry not only educates but also offers alternatives, grocery lists, and the service of coming to look at what is currently in your pantry whether it is in person or virtual.

Then, together we will purge anything we need to and refill with the alternatives. I also want to help you maintain! I've been active my entire life whether it was swimming through college, CrossFit, gym in my garage, or just playing with the kiddos.

I've also tried diets such as Paleo, Keto, etc., but at the end of the day, I still had daily fogginess, constipation, and just lack of energy, so I started researching why. My research confirmed that a healthy lifestyle had to include healthy eating. I wanted a healthier lifestyle, not just a diet. That's what led me to this journey.

A FRIEND WHO INSPIRED A DEEPER PASSION IN MY HEALTH JOURNEY

Carissa’s Story

There are four different options you can choose to wake up to better health and nutrition.
1. Start doing it yourself.
2. have a friend or loved one tell you.
3. Have a doctor tell you.
4. Have some type of life-changing medical issue.

Unfortunately, for me in 2011, it was number four, due to family members passing away from cancer and learning I had a genetic mutation for cancer.

Instead of going to a bunch of doctors and cutting stuff off me or cutting stuff out of me and taking a bunch of medications to prevent cancer, I focused on option number one with my husband and started better health and nutrition for ourselves.

We almost immediately threw out every single cosmetic product, and started doing our own research for better cosmetics. We went to 100% natural on all cosmetics since at the time, based on months and months of research, that was the simplest way to defeat my genetic mutation.

Over the next four years, we started purging all of the junk from our pantry and refrigerators. And yes, even stuff that was marked as organic was junk.

When I became pregnant, I kicked option number one into full gear and started to do my best to be as close to 100% natural with food. My husband and I went back to the old way of thinking about food as medicine. Delicious medicine. We got rid of our emotional ties to food and got the mindset of, what can I eat that will make me a better human? Tasty food is great, but food that will help you live stronger and longer is even greater. And trust me very tasty healthy options are actually very easy.

It was tough at first, learning about ingredients. . .and pretty overwhelming, but after a lot of research online for a few months straight and maintaining that research just a tiny amount each week, it became easy to spot the unhealthy stuff. And taking the time to listen to interviews, speeches, lectures and debates on food makes it even easier.

It’s a whole new mindset to think about using food to make you a better healthier human, Instead of just pleasing your tastebuds. But once you get all of that junk food out of your system, that mindset becomes very easy. And very important to everyone that cares about you.

The goal is to live very very very long and happy life. . . and die peacefully instead of painfully, so I spread the word and tell my story as often as I can.

What others have to say. . .
