Collect your bottles from Butler SWCD
This year, we ask you to collect your sample bottles from Butler SWCD. It is best to call the District prior to visiting. Spring is our busy season for field work, and very occasionally everyone is out of the office. Our number is 513-887-3720.

We cannot test water in other bottles due to the potential for contamination.

Drive-Thru Drop off
Saturday April 8, between 10 am and 12 noon
Miami University, Shideler Hall, Oxford. (directions)
No need to find parking, as this is a drive-thru event we will take your sample bottle and paperwork, test the sample. Your results will either be emailed or mailed to you, whichever you prefer. Please note, samples dropped off that are not using the official sample bottle can not be tested for bacteria.
What will be tested:

Nitrates - Nitrogen is essential for all living things, but high levels of nitrate in drinking water can be dangerous to health, especially for infants and pregnant women. (Source: CDC)

Bacteria (E-coli and total coliforms) - Fecal coliform bacteria are a specific kind of total coliform. The feces (or stool) and digestive systems of humans and warm-blooded animals contain millions of fecal coliforms. E. coli is part of the fecal coliform group and may be tested for by itself. Fecal coliforms and E. coli are usually harmless. However, a positive test may mean that feces and harmful germs have found their way into your water system. These harmful germs can cause diarrhea, dysentery, and hepatitis. (Source: CDC)

Is your well more than 40 years old?

Is it less than 50 feet deep?

Has it been more than a year since the water was tested?

Does an infant or pregnant women drink the water?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, please contact us to set up an appointment.
Maximum Number of samples:
We have funding to test a maximum of 30 samples, first come first served.
