Zachary Armstrong: Grids & Abstracts

Zachary Armstrong: Grids & Abstracts

April 30–July 17, 2021

The premiere of new work by internationally renowned artist, Dayton native and resident, Zachary Armstrong, will christen The Co’s new galleries’ most distinct feature—a dramatic 74-foot wall—with floor-to-ceiling “wallpaper,” featuring a dizzying design of repetitive, swooping forms sourced from Armstrong’s childhood drawings, family history, a gathering of iconic Dayton signs and symbols (such as the Elder-Beerman logo), and executed entirely in shades of gray. Grids & Abstracts exemplifies Armstrong’s mastery of drawing, encaustic painting, and sculpture in various mediums while drawing upon egalitarian mythologies of home and family with nods to both personal and art history. These foundations have served as the powerful and curious amalgams that comprise the basis of his work. Curated by Michael Goodson.
