7th Annual Exhibition of International Scratchboard Art
Middletown Arts Center is thrilled to host the 7th Annual Exhibition of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. In previous years, the exhibition was hosted in faraway placesl like Australia and California. Artists from all over the world will join us on May 4th to kick off the exhibition. Come view their beautiful scratchboard art before May 31st!
Scratchboard is a fine art form that is created on a board coated with white clay and then a layer of black India ink over the clay. Artists use abrasive tools to remove the black ink to create an image. Artists may choose to keep their boards black and white or proceed to color the exposed clay with a variety of transparent mediums. Clay boards without black ink are also used; in this case, the artists adds transparent media over the clay and then uses various tools to scratch through the color.
