From Page to Screen - February's Book and Movie Discussion

In collaboration with the Enrichment Center at Washington Township's RecWest, the Library is launching a new series called From Page to Screen. Each month we will read the book, watch the movie, and discuss!

Read: The Remains of the Day (1989-Fiction) by Kazuo Ishiguro 245 pp. (Goodreads - 4.12/5 with 177,421 ratings). In the summer of 1956, Stevens, a long-serving butler at Darlington Hall, decides to take a motoring trip through the West Country. The six-day excursion becomes a journey into the past of Stevens and England, a past that takes in fascism, two world wars, and an unrealized love between the butler and his housekeeper.

Film: The Remains of the Day (1993, with a running time of 129 min.) Rated PG. Directed by James Ivory and starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.

Copies of this book will be distributed at the January program and available to non-attendees after the film at Woodbourne Library. Books may be returned at the program or in the drop at either Woodbourne or Centerville Library.

The program is free, but registration is required to ensure adequate seating (and popcorn!).
