Artist Reception: 2019 Dayton Skyscrapers Art Exhibit
Victoria Theatre Association and Shango: Center for The Study of African-American Art and Culture presents the annual Visual Voices exhibit, DAYTON SKYSCRAPERS. The2019 DAYTON SKYSCRAPERS exhibit, located in the Orchestra Lobby of the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, features art created by local African-American artists that reflects the broad and diverse career fields of African- Americans in the Miami Valley. The exhibit runs Feb. 5- March 31, 2019, and is free to the public.
DAYTON SKYSCRAPERS, sponsored by the DP&L Foundation and curated by Willis “Bing” Davis, is a metaphor for those local and regional African-Americans who stand tall in our minds and hearts for what they have achieved in their field, and their contributions to the quality of life of Dayton and the Miami Valley region. The 2019 honorees reflect high achievement in areas such as law, military, education, science, medicine and community service.

Frances, community activist; Dr. Helen Octavia Dickens, medical; Jewelia Higgins, community activist; Terrelia Ogletree, community service, and Marlon Shackelford, community activist.

An artist reception will be on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center. The reception is free and open to the public.
