Thunderbirds to sign autographs June 23

Visitors to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force can meet members of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Air Demonstration Squadron as they sign autographs from 9-10 a.m. on June 23.

Participants will include a pilot, crew chief and other members of the team. Museum doors will open to the public at 8:30 a.m.

The Thunderbirds, which will be among the featured performers at this year's Vectren Dayton Air Show on June 24-25, perform a mix of formation flying and solo routines, highlighting the maximum capabilities of the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the professional qualities of the people who fly, maintain and support these aircraft. The squadron performs approximately 75 demonstrations each year, and more than 300 million people in all 50 states and 58 foreign countries have seen the red, white and blue jets in more than 4,000 aerial demonstrations.

For those who want to take an easy route to the Air Show, RTA shuttle buses will run to and from the museum, dropping off riders at the Air Show main gate from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on June 24-25. Shuttles depart from both locations approximately every 10 minutes. The cost for a round trip ticket is $3, and children age 5 and under ride free.
