SunWatch Indian Village Presents the 2018 Annual Lecture Series

Join in on the lively, interesting discussions scheduled for SunWatch Indian Village this year from January to April. Topics as far-ranging as the Masonic Key to the Goliath of New York will be discussed during this compelling series dubbed Pseudoscience in Archaeology. These educational forums feature experts from across the United States and are free and open to the public. All lectures in the series begin at 10:30 am in the Prarie View Room at SunWatch.

On Saturday, January 20, 2018, Dr. David Anderson of Radford University takes to the podium at SunWatch for a critical look at The Masonic Key:The Influence of  Freemasonry on Public Perceptions of Archaeology.

Spooky Archaeology, slated for Saturday, February 17, is the provacative title of the second lecture in the Pseudoscience series. This foray into the myth and science of the past is guided by Dr. Jeb Card of Miami Universtiy.

Visiting SunWatch March 17, AIA National Lecturer Dr. Brad Schaefer of Louisiana State University will explain in scholarly terms why Archaeoastronomy is Not All Bad.

Rounding out this interesting series on Saturday, April 21, is Dr. Ken Feder, an AIA National Lecturer from Central Connecticut State University. Dr. Feder’s conversation will focus on The Goliath of New York: Anatomy of an Archaeological Hoax.

Thanks to the generosity of the AIA and an anonymous donor, admission to the lectures is FREE to the public.

SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park is a National Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located at 2301 West River Rd., Dayton, OH 45417. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors (60 +), $6.00 for children (6 – 16). Children under 5 years, and Dayton Society of Natural History members are free.
