Holocaust Remembrance Talk and Potluck

Wednesday, April 26 at 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Room 101, White Hall, Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine

Holocaust survivor Martin Lowenberg will share his experience surviving five different concentration camps and twelve years under the Nazi Regime on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 at 6:30 pm as the speaker for the second annual Holocaust Remembrance Day organized by J-Shoft, the Jewish medical student interest group, to commemorate the Jewish holiday Yom HaShoah. The talk will take place at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, White Hall Gandhi Auditorium, Room 101, 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy, Dayton, OH 45435 . The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share for a community potluck dinner.

Martin Lowenberg, local Daytonian from 1951-1962, will speak on the brutality of the Holocaust. Specifically, he will elaborate on the effect it had on his family, having lost his parents and twin brother, as well as why learning about the Holocaust is still highly relevant today. As many survivors are passing away by the day, it is a true honor and privilege to listen to Mr. Lowenberg’s words of wisdom.

Ben Wainblat, second year medical student at Boonshoft School of Medicine, is heading up the organization of this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration.

“I am thoroughly excited to welcome Martin Lowenberg, my third cousin, to speak to my cohort of professional students and the greater Miami Valley community,” Wainblat stated. “It is very important for my generation to never forget the atrocities that happened over 70 years ago and to do our absolute best to never let this happen to anyone again.”

This event is sponsored by the generous donations of Dayton City Paper, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton, Marlene Willen, Brian Gleisser, Boonshoft School of Medicine Medical School Student Council, Boonshoft PRIDE, Elyse Willen, Megan S, and an anonymous donation.
