Virtually join the DSA to meet Morris Howard, learn a little about his fine art practice, and follow along with him as he paints a portrait of his friend, Virginia. This workshop will be self-guided through a video and not have a live zoom element.
Registrants will pick up their oil painting kits from the High Street Gallery (48 High Street, Dayton) 12pm-5pm: Friday, March 5 or Saturday March 6, 2021

Morris Howard
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Morris enrolled at the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1994. He graduated in 1996 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Visual Communications. Morris continued his studies under the tutelage of artist and illustrator Carl Owens until Mr. Owens untimely passing in 2002. Morris continues to study, and receive mentorship from portrait artist, Simmie Knox, who resides in Atlanta. He is currently a member of the African American Visual Artists Guild as well as the Dayton Society of Artists.

Introducing...
The purpose of the workshop series, Introducing..., is to acquaint DSA members and the community to different mediums and methods in the visual arts. In conjunction, the attendees will get to know the instructing artist, their background, and tips and tricks of their trade.
