The Parent Teacher Organization from your local Montessori School of Dayton is hosting our second annual 5K and Fun Run event called Running of the Bison followed by a Family Fun Festival on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Proceeds from this event will support student enrichment activities that foster our mission of creating independent, resilient individuals who value integrity, community, and tolerance.
The race begins on Ghent St between Acosta St. and Galewood St. The Fun Run is a ½ mile loop around the block. The 5K race is an out-and-back that includes neighborhood streets and the Iron Horse Trail through State Farm Park. There will be handmade, unique awards, created by the middle school students, for top 3 overall winners and top 3 age group awards for males and females for the 5K race. Age groups are: 1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older.
Race entry for both the Fun Run and 5K include a t - shirt if registered by April 30.
Entry fee for the 5K is $25 for ages 19 and up thru April 30 and $30 after April 30.
Entry fee for the 5K is $20 for ages 1-18 thru April 30 and $25 after April 30.
Entry fee for the Fun Run is $5 through race day (no price increase).
Upon completion of the race, each participant receives complimentary tickets for the Family Fun Festival towards activities (games, face painting, raffles, etc).
Family Fun Festival
The Family Fun Festival starts after the 5K race in the parking lot behind the school off of Ghent St. and is free admission. Join us for some fun and games! There will be games with prizes, face painting, a raffle and/or silent auction, food trucks and more! All are welcome!
*Ghent Road will be closed to traffic between Acosta St and Galewood St for the race. Please park along the street on Acosta or Galewood or in the Grace Baptist Church parking lot.
