Trio Abelia: Oboe, Horn & Piano
Abelia is a Hebrew name meaning "breath" -- breath through instruments and the breath of life through music together. Trio Abelia blends the beauty of orchestral winds with the grandeur of the piano. Their repertoire draws on works from the Classical and Romantic periods as well as folksongs, hymns and carols. Their music provides a varied program of witty, lighthearted melodies and beautiful, soaring romanticism. The trio members met in Windsor, Ontario, as members of the Windsor Symphony or as faculty at the University of Windsor. Geralyn Giovannetti is now Professor of Oboe at Brigham Young University in Utah and Denise Root Pierce is Professor of Horn at Eastern Michigan University. Pianist David Palmer is Professor Emeritus, University of Windsor and Music Director and Organist at All Saints Church in Windsor. They have toured throughout the United States and Canada.
