Not In Our Town

Storytelling through film can often help us see things in a new way. Not In Our Town (https://www.niot.org/about-us) films help one community learn from others. NIOT produces documentaries including this evening's "Light in the Darkness."  It shows how a community responded after an Ecuadorian immigrant was murdered by high school students.

Join us for a Welcoming Week screening of the documentary followed by a panel forum with the filmmaker and representatives from ABLE (Advocates for Basic Legal Equality), Welcome Dayton, and local police departments for a discussion of U-Visas.

The U visa is a non-immigrant visa that is reserved for victims of crime who assist law enforcement. It is meant to protect non-citizens who have suffered significant mental or physical abuse from a qualifying criminal activity.
