Dayton is for Livers
On Saturday, May 5, the Dayton music scene comes together for one of its own with Dayton is for Livers, a benefit for Ian Kaplan. The event features performances from Nathan Peters (Lioness), Andy Gabbard (Road Eyes, Buffalo Killers), PJ & Tommy (Party Man, The Motel Beds), Andy Smith (Me Time), Quemado (ft Nate Farley), and Shrug. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the doors.
“I mainly chose the bands that are playing because they were the ones that were closest to Ian’s circle, musically speaking,” Derl Robbins, benefit booker said. “And I also knew they’d all do it in a heartbeat.”
A fixture of the Dayton scene, Ian has played in Motel Beds, Lab Partners, Goodbye/Crusher, Lioness, Company Man, Feathered Serpent, Human Reunion, Jayne Sachs Band and many more. Dealing with a lifelong illness, Ian is in need of a liver transplant and the funds raised will help go towards his upcoming medical expenses.
“Everyone’s been really sweet with how much they’re coming around Ian,” Derl said. “There will be a raffle or silent auction of some really great Dayton music stuff that’s been donated too. It’s going to be a great night for a great dude.”
