Tribute to The Brill Building Songwriters

SuperPops series: The Great Ones in the world of popular music

This performance focuses on songs from the decade 1965–1975.

In Manhattan, near the intersection of Broadway and W. 49th, sits the Brill Building. A conglomeration of offices within this building belonged to companies in the music industry. And it was within these music businesses that singer-songwriters including Burt Bacharach, Hal David, Laura Nyro, Paul Anka, Dionne Warwick, Neil Sedaka, Carole King, Marvin Hamlisch, and Barry Mann blossomed. This evening’s concert features some of the most well-known and pivotal songs from the late 1960s and early 1970s. It’s an evening filled with music that you would have listened to on your radio while driving, sitting on your porch, or just lying back in your beanbag chair.
