Beyond Auto - Learn to Use Your Camera
Learn how your DSLR camera works in our hands-on class with local experts, Knack Creative. After our course, you’ll be able to shoot in manual mode and creatively control your camera to produce the photos you envision.
This is a three week course on August 14, 21, & 28 in the upstairs gallery space at Gem City Catfe. Each class will be an hour and a half, with a blend of instruction via slides and hands-on practice with individual attention. To help you commit each lesson to memory, we’ll also have practice items between classes. You’ll be able to ask questions and get feedback from our Instructors as we go and share with other course participants in our online group.
Cat allergies? No problem! This course takes place in the cafe side, which has separate air than the cat lounge. During week three, you will be able to practice taking photos of the kitties if you would like to go into the cat lounge.
We will be covering:
- The anatomy of your camera
- The "Photographic Triangle" of ISO, shutter speed and aperture
- How to shoot a correct exposure in manual
- When and how to use Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority modes
- How to use your Autofocus
- Lighting
- White Balance
- Composition
Course Requirements: You must be able to attend all three weeks, as they build on each other. You must have a camera with the ability to shoot in manual mode, such as DSLR. You may share a camera with another class participant, but you must each register for a ticket.
