Vegetable Gardening Basics

Vegetable Gardening Basics wil cover types of beds or containers, healthy soil, planting techniques including companions, interplanting, and crop rotation.  You'll learn the difference between hybrids, heirlooms and organic seeds; perennials and annuals; watering or irrigation systems; and why organic methods are important.  Presenter Lisa Helm is a Master Organic Gardener and is Permaculture Certified.  In 2008 she founded Garden Station and later developed Dayton Urban Grown Cooperative training farm.  She is co-owner of Dayton Urban Green located in Five Rivers MetroParks 2nd Street Market.  Her passion for sustainable agriculture has made her a popluar speaker at local, state, and national conferences.  Open seating.  Ages 16 and up.
