A couple of us from Dayton Local went to Chef Jenn DiSanto's Fresco for lunch this week. We met Chef Jenn at an event several weeks ago, and we knew she was committed to using the best possible ingredients and prepared her dishes from scratch, so we fully expected to have a good experience.

A couple of us from Dayton Local went to Chef Jenn DiSanto's Fresco for lunch this week. We met Chef Jenn at an event several weeks ago, and we knew she was committed to using the best possible ingredients and prepared her dishes from scratch, so we fully expected to have a good experience.
What we had was an outstanding experience.
Chef Jenn (right) is as friendly as she is passionate about food, so when we asked, she was very happy to make recommendations. Chris had the Thai Chicken Sliders ~Two Thai chicken burgers on challah slider buns with cilantro slaw, marinated cucumbers, and peanut sauce, while I opted for the House-made Greek Chicken "Sausage" with Cucumber Feta sauce on Flatbread ~ Free-form chicken sausage (no casing) with Mediteranean herbs and spices in a warm flatbread topped with tomatoes and yogurt cucumber feta sauce.
We each elected to have a side salad; which was composed of mixed greens, tomatoes, carrots, croutons, with her amazing sweet onion dressing.
Wow, we hadn't anticipated the combinations and depth of flavors we experienced!
We also tried the Grilled Chicken and Green Tomato Chutney Panini ~ grilled chicken, crumbled goat cheese and a slightly sweet and totally herby green tomato chutney served with home-made sweet potato chips - another incredible taste sensation. My mother cans green tomato relish, but Chef Jenn's green tomato chutney was the first green tomato preparation I've had outside our family.
We marveled over the depth of flavors and how they played off of each other while each remained recognizable. These are flavors to savor, so take your time, you'll be delighted you did! Fresco makes being a slow eater a blessing. To top it off, we had warm and rich salted caramel brownies. The salt, caramel, and chocolate complimented each other perfectly.
Fresco is a too well hidden gem, located at 3141 Far Hills Avenue in the Fountain Square shopping center next to Grieve Hardware in Kettering. They are open from 11:30a to 6:30p Monday through Friday. Fresco offer's lunch and early dinner service in their location, or you can order individual or family size portions to take out. Seek them out, you'll be glad you did. And please tell them Dayton Local sent you!
