Whole lotta shakin' goin' on!

Sounds are made from vibrations, and all sounds have this origin! That's right! No vibrations equals no sound!

Whole lotta shakin' goin' on!

If you stop just for a moment and listen, you can probably hear sounds all around you.Your refrigerator, the cars outside, wind blowing through trees. Finding a spot without sound could be very challenging!

Sound is created from a vibration traveling through matter. Sound can travel through air, water, and even metal. However, sound waves cannot travel in space because there is no air to allow the sound wave to get from one place to another. Super cool!

As sound waves reach our ears, our brains interpret those waves as sound. Every item that is making a sound is actually vibrating. It’s hard to believe because sometimes things vibrate so quickly, they just look blurry or you may not be able to see the vibrations at all because they are so fast and small. Watch Mister C’s slow motion musical instruments video to see these vibrations slowed WAY down and see sound in a totally new way. It brings a new meaning to saying there’s a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on!

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle, teacher, or friend, we can all take the time to help kids reach their full potential. Mister C invites you all to join him to explore the wonders of the world around us to LEARN TOGETHER! When Mister C is not in the lab experimenting or in the studio dropping beats, he loves to connect with other learners online. Share how you’re having fun learning this week and use #LearnTogetherDayton to show everyone what you have learned with Mister C!
