The Trolley Stop

When you make the choice to eat a healthier diet, it can be hard to find bars that can accommodate your requests. Trolley Stop in the Oregon District actually have some pretty healthy stuff on their menu. The beer selection is amazing - and I can't think of a better way to bid farewell to warm weather than a drink or two on the Trolley Stop patio.

The Trolley Stop

When you make the choice to eat a healthier diet, it can be hard to find bars that can accommodate your (often quite annoying) requests. The diet I was (and still sort of am) on was almost dairy-free, almost gluten-free, vegetarian, and nearly sugar-free. (Of course, it goes without saying that none of this pertained to beer.) As boring as this diet sounds, I have lost 15 pounds so far and I really do feel a lot better – but you just can't imagine how bored I was eating at home all the time.

Trolley Stop in the Oregon District put a stop to that boredom because they actually have some pretty healthy stuff on their menu. Yes, that's right, a bar has some healthy options! I ordered a salad that came with fresh, diced tomato and green pepper and balsamic vinaigrette on the side.

I thought this would be all I could eat but then I noticed they had homemade roasted red pepper hummus and I nearly fell off my chair. Unfortunately, it comes with pita bread (bread being in the list of things I can't eat much of) but when I mentioned this to the server, she said they could bring out carrot and celery sticks instead.

I was so happy to find a bar that has fresh veggies at their disposal at all times (that are not immediately thrown into a fryer).

The beer selection at Trolley Stop is amazing and the staff is very knowledgeable about what's on tap. I wasn't familiar with a lot of the beers they had on draft so the bartender explained which one would be closest to what I already like. I found a new favorite beer this way.

Trolley Stop PatioOne thing not everyone knows about Trolley Stop is that they have an awesome party house at the back of their patio that can be reserved (along with the services of a bartender) for a very reasonable price (call 937-461-1101 for more information). What better way to have a house party with your friends without your friends messing up your house?

The patio has a tremendous amount of seating compared to most other patios in the Oregon District. I heard one person describe the ambiance as "European". Having never been to Europe, I can only say that it is a very laid-back, multi-level patio with ample seating. I can't think of a better way to bid farewell to warm weather than a drink or two on the Trolley Stop patio.

Trolley Stop really does seem to have something for everyone, so why not stop there yourself?
