A new veterans memorial will be dedicated this Saturday at Gardner Park in Springboro.

Constructed of granite and stone, the memorial commemorates the five branches of the United States Armed Forces. The city budgeted $185,000 for the memorial, which has been built in Gardner Park off North Main Street.  The final cost was just over  $228,000, including more than $13,000 in donations.

The formal dedication of the memorial is scheduled for this Saturday, November 11. Springboro Mayor John Agenbroad, a veteran of the U.S. Marines who served in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart, will open the ceremony on Saturday.  Light refreshments will be available at 10 a.m. with the formal program beginning at 11 a.m.
