Christmas In The Oregon District Offers Big Prizes For Buying Local

Our friends at the Oregon District Business Association have put together a spectacular Christmas contest that starts on Small Business Saturday, November 28th.  Downtown Dayton’s Oregon District is rich with local independent businesses, including 25 dining and entertainment establishments and 20 retail stores. Each of the participating businesses has a different stamp and stamp cards on hand. You only need to make purchases and collect stamps from 8 of the 45 businesses to complete your stamp card. The more merchants you make purchases from, the more entries you’ll earn.

“There’s no minimum purchase at any one location. The main idea of the stamp card is to encourage folks to visit more than just one restaurant or shop, which in turn, opens people up to understanding just how much the Oregon District has to offer,” says Emily Mendenhall from Lily’s Bistro.

Completed stamp cards can be turned in at your choice of 3 locations: Lily’s Bistro , BRIM or Sew Dayton and function like a deluxe raffle ticket, says organizer Brian Johnson. “There will be a total of 4 drawings from completed stamp cards.  On three Sundays in December, we will draw a card and the winner will receive a gift basket filled with goods donated by Oregon District businesses.  On Sunday, December 20, we will also draw a card for the grand prize, which is worth $1,000 in prizes and gift certificates.”

Each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns 3 times more money to your local economy than one spent at a chain. Small businesses also donate more than twice as much per sales dollar to local non-profits, events, and teams compared to big businesses. Please show your support for the program by using the hashtag #Christmasinthedistrict in your social media posts.
