EMV, and what it means for your business

If you are a business owner or are employed with an organization in their accounts payable/receivable area you have heard the acronym EMV for a few years. For those who are uninitiated, EMV stands for Europay-MasterCard-VISA and is the global standard for credit card processing which will become mandatory in the United States by October 1, 2015. It is a system devised to curtail credit card fraud.

While the concept is a good one there are several pitfalls business owners and organizations face in its implementation.  Dayton-based National Processing Solutions, a local WBE and HIPAA certified payments processor has some advice for businesses in the run up to October 1.
