Dayton Boat Club Introduction to Rowing Camp - Grades 7 - 12
The Dayton Boat Club’s juniors program is for middle school to high school men and women from all across the Miami Valley. We have introductory programs as well as competitive rowing seasons in the fall, spring and summer. The Dayton Boat Club will be holding two Introduction to Rowing Camps this summer for youth in Grades 7 – 12. Each camp will consist of eight 2-hour training sessions. All sessions are held at the Dayton Boat Club Boathouse located on East River Road near Moraine.
The Introduction to Rowing Camp is an 8-session program that will teach the new rower the basics of the sport including:
- Familiarity with the equipment and the unique terms used in rowing
- Handling the boat, oars, getting in and out of the shell, docking and launching
- Basics of an effective rowing stroke: the drive and the recovery
- Turning, stopping, and changing direction
- Rowing with power/race prep
Session 1: June 19 - July 1
Session 2: July 17 - July 29
Times: Mon, Wed, Fri: 6-8pm, Sat: 9-11am
Prerequisites: No Experience Necessary
