Dale Sanders presents Setting a New World Record in the Grand Canyon
Our Adventure Speaker Series finale brings the return of Dale "Greybeard" Sanders to our (virtual) Adventure stage. Dale will be sharing his latest accomplishment of setting another Guinness World Record. This past fall, at age 85, Dale became the oldest person to complete the rigorous Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim trail in Grand Canyon National Park. Hear about the challenges and rewards he experienced and what motivated Sanders to attempt this grueling expedition.
Presenter Bio
Dale has been an adventurer since his birth on the banks of Whippoorwill Creek in Kentucky. His love of water led him to become a lifeguard, join the Navy, become a Hard Hat Deep Sea Diver, and serve with the US Marine Corp in Okinawa. At 85, Dale is no stranger to setting age related records in the world of outdoor adventure. At 80 years old, Dale paddled the Mississippi River from Source to Sea in 80 days, and at 82 became the oldest person to thru hike the Appalachian Trail. Dale is the recipient of many awards and accolades, including the acclaimed 2016 Canoe and Kayak Magazine's Spirit of Adventure Award.
