5K Walk / Run for Autism Acceptance - Help us raise awareness and funds to support individuals with Autism in out community. Family fun, resources, Super Hero themed event and so much more!
Come on out to the Payne Recreation Center for the annual Dayton Autism Society 5K Walk/Run and Resource Fair for Autism Acceptance. We will have a resource fair with local resources related to disability services. Chase Concessions food truck will be back, which supports employment opportunities for individuals with disailities. The theme for this years event is Super Hero, so dust off those capes and shields and come have some awesome fun! Balloon animals, a DJ, the Beavercreek All Stars Dance Troop performing once again which is a fan favorite! New this year will be the Funk Lab Dance group who are incredible and we are looking forward to seeing them! John Sizemore is back to sing our National Anthem! Dayton Brick Shop is setting up a Lego table for some fun building opportunities, there will also be some therapy animals out again this year to share the love. This event is a fundraiser for the Dayton Autism Society's Family Grant program. This program provides financial assistance to help individuals on the Autism Spectrum pay for therapy, adaptive equipment and services related to the Autism Diagnosis. The 5K walk and run goes along Main Street, through the neighborhood and into the air park where you can usually see the planes take off and land or just our on display. There is a way to cut back over to the festivities half way through for those who don't want to do the full 5k. Autism Awareness merchandise will be available for purchase, all sales benefit the family grant program. New this year is a Super Hero themed Finisher Medal for the first 200 people who purchase a medal, once these are sole we have a puzzle piece medal for the next 100 who purchase medals. Come out and have a fun morning with us! We recomend arriving early to avoid waiting in a line to get in the Rec. Center parking lot closer to race time.
