Recently, our kids have discovered Spotify and the wonders of creating their own playlist of favorites. From hair bands with screeching guitars to new artists that I haven't even heard of, they love it all pumping through their headphones.
It reminds me of all those hours spent listening to the radio, hoping to catch my favorite song and that the DJ wouldn't talk over the front of the track so I could get a good recording for later.
Although it can get embarrassing when your son starts singing "Stroke Me" in the middle of Target (true story), I have never had an issue with letting the kids listen to all kinds of music. In fact, our kids have always listened to the radio and have an impressive breadth of musical knowledge and quite an inclusive playlist because of it.

This high-energy live concert with real live musicians has tons of audience participation. From getting kids onstage to join the "SpongeBob Chorus" to the parents vs. the kids hokey pokey challenge, BIG BANG BOOM has established there is no sitting down at a BIG BANG BOOM show.
There are two shows available at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, with a hands-on rolling workshop in between. Tickets are available at TicketCenterStage.com.

LENGTH: 60 minutes (no intermission)
NEW HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS:
2:30 p.m. (between performances) for $5 per child
Choose between explorations of Act-ing OR Art-ing. If you have more than one child in a group, each child may choose a different activity to participate in. Activities are designed to last approximately 60 minutes. Parents tag along for free!
