The Dayton Carvers Guild is welcoming its 32nd annual Artistry in Wood show to the Expo Center at the Dayton International Airport on November 9-10. You can visit the show Saturday 10a-6p or Sunday 10a-5p.
The Dayton Carvers Guild is a talented group of skilled men and women who share a love of carving and sculpting wood. Over 225 exhibitors from all over the country and Canada come to fill 304 plus booths each year. The show is believed to be one of the largest of its kind in the nation. Patrons will find unique gifts, special pieces of art, Holiday decorations, collectables, and furniture.
The special exhibit this year is the Caricature Carvers of America's Original 1930's street scene, featuring over 100 caricature carvings. This will be the only public viewing of the Street Scene, since each building will be for sale during the show to be taken by it's new owner at the conclusion of the Show.
Children under 12 will have the opportunity to learn about woodworking and build projects, free of charge, under the supervision of members from Western Ohio Woodworkers. Visitors will also be able to watch Western Ohio Woodworkers assemble toys with all toys donated to Dayton Children's Hospital.
Continuing the Spirit of giving, The Artistry in Wood Show shares a portion of the proceeds with United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton (URS). Since the inception of the Show, Artistry in Wood has donated over $125,000 to URS to support the organization's programs and services.
United Rehabilitation Services (URS) is a private, non-profit agency with a proud 57 year history of serving nearly 250,000 children and adults and their families with disabilities in the greater Dayton area and the surrounding 11 counties. Many families come upon disabilities and are faced with difficult, life-changing circumstances. "Thanks to the Dayton Wood Carvers and the Artistry in Wood Show, URS is able to offer unique and critical services to our clients including special needs childcare with nurses and onsite and physical, and occupational and speech therapies" "says Executive Director Dennis Grant. "We also provide programs like vocational training, adult daycare, in-home care, respite services and parent support groups to enhance the quality of life for URS clients and their families."For more information regarding registration, maps and hotels for the Artistry and Wood show, please visit the Dayton Carvers Guild website.
