Camp REC

Each week is themed for maximum summer excitement and includes a variety of activities. Children will participate in swimming, climbing wall, field trips, presentations, nature, crafts,  and recreational games. All camp leaders are CPR certified and have attended a camp training session. Parents will receive a parent packet at registration with important forms to complete that must be turned in before children can attend. Be sure to pack a lunch and drink!

Register Monday, April 20 through Wednesday, April 22 and receive $10.00 off your registration.

You will receive a detailed schedule each week telling you what activities the camp will be participating in each day. Be sure to bring a bathing suit and towel on swim days!

Field Trips: Camp takes a weekly field trip to various places every Wednesday. Dates will be announced by the registration date. Any child signed up for a field trip day must attend the field trip. There will be no supervision at the VRC while the camp is on the field trip.  Each field trip is an additional fee.

Camp is for those children entering grades 1 – 6 for the fall 2016 school year.

1st Child                 $115 Resident/VRC member;           $125 Non-Resident                   

2nd Child               $100 Resident/VRC member;             $110 Non-Resident                   

3rd Child               $95   Resident/VRC member;           $105 Non-Resident                  

Deposit Amount Required for Weekly Enrollment:

Due the Friday (10 days) prior to enrolled week by 6:00pm. A payment due date schedule will be printed on your receipt upon registration.

Week 1: Skate into Summer, May 31 – June 3

Camp meets Tuesday through Friday

To kick off the summer, we’ll dive right into the week with activities like dodge ball, kick ball, climbing the wall, crafts, and much more!

Field Trip: Skateworld

Field Trip Fee: $6.00

Week 2: Science Exploration, June 6 – 10

Campers will have a chance to participate in different science experiments, create crafts, and play games during this fun-filled week.

Field Trip: COSI (Fee TBA)

Week 3: Super Sports, June 13 – 17

Slam Dunk! Touchdown! Goal! Spike! Homerun! This week will be filled with tournaments of friendly competition.

Field Trip: Thunderbowl lanes- Bowling

Field Trip Fee: $6.00

Week 4: Wild and Wacky Water, June 20 – 24

Campers will slip and slide their way through the week while enjoying water games, crafts, and fun.

Field Trip: Rave Motion Pictures-Finding Dory 

Week 5: Animal Planet, June 27 – July 1

Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Join us as we explore the animal planet with games, crafts, hunts, and more.

Field Trip: Idle Ranch

Week 6: Party at the REC, July 5 – 8

Camp meets Tuesday through Friday

Fast forward through a year of holiday cheer condensed into a week of fun filled traditions including Winter Wonderland, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving

Field Trip: Tipp City Aquatic Center

Week 7: Summer Superheroes, July 11 – 15

Join us for superhero fun! We will introduce heroes, both make-believe and real-life first responders. The Vandalia Police and Fire Department will be joining camp to educate children and also participate in games and activities.

Field Trip: Laser Quest 

Week 8: Creation Station, July 18 – 22

Your little Picassos will use their imagination and creativity as they play wacky games and create their own pieces of art throughout the week.

Field Trip: Cozy Melts and Cloud Park 

Week 9: Let’s Get Physical, July 25 – 29

Let’s get moving! We’re extra healthy and active this week with visits from our in-house personal trainers. The week will be even more jam-packed with sports than usual. Each day we will learn and play different sports including basketball, football, wiffle ball, soccer, and volleyball. Come dressed in your favorite sports team apparel.

Field Trip: Metro Parks 

Week 10: Olympics, August 1 – 5

Campers will enjoy a week of team challenges where they will find out who can make to the end to be crowned the champions for the week.

Field Trip: Skyzone 

Week 11: Last Blast, August 8 – 12

We’re spending the week revisiting all of our favorite games and activities as we put the entire summer on rewind. Children can pick activities from the weeks they loved the most! A camp cookout will be our final farewell to the best summer yet.
