A new festival is coming to Downtown Dayton that focuses on healthy lifestyles and community building. The Dayton Multi Sport Festival (DMSF) promises to be the biggest health and fitness festival Dayton has ever seen, hosting 5k, 10K, and half marathon races, multiple bike rides of varying distances, and a Health and Fitness Expo at Riverscape Metropark Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6. “Personal health is an aspect of this event, but we see this festival as a bigger opportunity to give people a reason to get active and to educate whole communities on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.” Mick Mominee, organizer, said.

“We want the festival to be accessible to everybody. Some people may just want to try out the 5K race or one of our casual bike rides, and if you have more experience you might be interested in something more challenging like the 10K or half marathon.” Nick Curry, Organizer and Chief Medical Consultant, explained.  For those who choose not to take part in one of the racing events, there will be a health and fitness expo on site comprised of 30+ vendor with free activities, such as yoga and Zumba, taking place all day.

The event has received support from Mayor Nan Whaley, who said, “We truly believe that health and wellness are important to every community, and events such as the Dayton Multi-Sport will promote running, cycling and other health and fitness activities.” Organizer Mominee added that this event is a great opportunity for community building, saying “this is a chance for businesses, churches, schools, families or any other organization to encourage each other to get healthier and more active. It’s always a lot of fun to race or ride as a team. Additionally, proceeds from DMSF benefit two deserving charities, The National MS Society and Z+ Health and Fitness.”

The 5k race takes place on Friday, June 5th in coordination with other First Friday events hosted downtown. The 10K, Half Marathon, and bike rides take place Saturday June 6th. If you are interested in the Dayton Multi-Sport Festival, you can get more information or register for their races or rides at multisportfest.org. Early registration and pricing ends April 1.
