Preservation of Historic and Prehistoric Properties at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

The Final presentation in the AIA/SunWatch “Underground Ohio” series by Paul Woodruff, Cultural Resources Manager and Erwin Roemer, Cultural Resources Specialist, at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base.

Air Force cultural resources specialists will provide an overview of the historic and prehistoric properties at WPAFB and how they manage such heritage resources while also discussing the key federal laws that drive cultural resources “management.”

Thanks to the Archaeological Institute of America, AIA Dayton Society members and the generosity of an anonymous donor, admission to the Archaeological Institute of America/SunWatch Presentation Series is free and open to the public. All presentations begin at 10:30 am and conclude about noon. Admission fees apply for guests wishing to explore the Village or the Interpretive Center before or after the presentations.

* While admission to these presentations is free seating is limited. Seating for all attendees will be done on a first come, first seated basis and if we reach capacity in our main presentation room we will then begin seating in the theater for the overflow crowd. Pastries will be available, feel free to bring your own coffee or other drink with you.

Sunwatch Indian Village

Sunwatch Indian Village - SunWatch is a 13th century American Indian village located along the Great Miami River in Dayton, OH. Archaeological excavations from 1971-1988 revealed a planned, stockaded Fort Ancient period settlement with astronomical alignments. - read more
