Join Five Rivers MetroParks and master plan consultants to learn the results of a 10-month process of collecting community input to better understand what Montgomery County residents want from their park district.

“So many people in our community shared their thoughts and suggestions, and we are excited to share the draft of this 10-year plan,” said Becky Benná, Five Rivers MetroParks executive director. “The master plan will help ensure we continue to serve as the region’s conservation leader and provide the highest level of parks facilities, programs and services to our residents and visitors.”

The draft master plan also will be available for review and comment at metroparks.org/plan in early February. The summary of online and intercept survey responses from the community, results of a statistically valid survey, and summary of stakeholder and focus group interviews currently are on the website.

Development of Five Rivers MetroParks’ 10-year comprehensive master plan began in early 2015. Once finalized this spring, the plan will serve as a guide for the future of Five Rivers MetroParks and provide direction for implementing short- and long-term strategies and actions to best meet the community’s needs and priorities.

“The comprehensive master plan will help Five Rivers MetroParks serve as the region’s conservation leader, connect people to nature and active lifestyles, and ensure Five Rivers MetroParks remains a major source of pride, vehicle for place making and an economic catalyst for the region,” Benná said.
