Gourmet Burgers and Fancy Dogs Fest With The Menus
Nothing says summer like a nice, grilled burger. Another Food Critic has tried over 200 restaurants in Dayton, and it’s easily one of the most tightly competitive dishes in town.
I would contend that if you tried enough of the burgers in town, you’d see that while we don’t attract the hype of foodie scenes like Chicago, New York and Cincinnati, we’ve got the skilled chefs that put us on the map.
Now, it seems, you might have a chance to do just that.
Introducing Gourmet Burger Fest – your chance to get some of the best grilled Midwestern delights all in one park July 20. Restaurants from around town will be showing off their best sliders and hot dogs – and believe me, there’s a lot to show off.
“We wanted to do something with burgers – good burgers are a really big deal these days with the way people are dressing them up, and with the veggie options,” said Amy Zahora, executive director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association, which is putting on the fest.
The lineup has been on the grow, with The Dock, Brixx Ice Co., Giovanni's, Sidelines, Kowalski Hots, and Ritter’s Frozen Custard among those planning to take the field in the burger and dog matchup. Zahora also said she’s hoping to see beer pairings with some of the burgers, another popular food move.
This just in: The Mohawk Freestyle Grill Food Truck will also be on-site!
The event coincides with the annual Bocce Classic, an outdoor event celebrating the oft-known sport and which also features a tournament-style championship for the sport.
Live entertainment will include local favorites, The Menus who will hit the stage at 4pm.
“It’s a chance to sample a lot of the burgers made around town in one place,” Zahora said. “I think it would be something different to try.”
